I’m pretty sure your morning routine consists of applying some makeup.
Maybe some eyeshadow, eye liner, a smack of lipstick or gloss and of course, a swipe of mascara. I know many women that feel their makeup look isn’t complete until they’ve curled their eyelashes and applied their mascara.
If you walk through the beauty isle in any drug store or take a visit to Sephora, it’s clear there is NO shortage of mascara’s on the market. I mean, how many different types can one company come up with?!
From curling, to lengthening, to enhancing and elongating, to thickening and of course, all the fancy colours (I like wearing black or purple by the way!), we are bombarded with product after product promising an all-alluring result. Oh! and let’s not forget the use of fake eyelashes and their toxic glue!
No wonder women are losing their eyelashes, which then begins a cycle of having to consistently use fake ones.
And what about your eyebrows?
The new thing nowadays is getting your eyebrows micro bladed. I have so many women that complain about their fading eyebrows and spend countless hours penciling them in to make them look thicker and fuller.
I never really cared much about my eyebrows and in fact, I started in the plucking game quite late. It wasn’t until my early twenties that I went to get my eyebrows waxed and wholy moly! What a difference a gorgeous set of eyebrows can do for your face!
I’m sure you know what I’m talking about!
Although I haven’t quite gotten into the micro blading thing just yet, and quite frankly, it doesn’t sound so pleasant, I’ll continue to stick to my W3LL People Mascara and my Ecobrow Paraben-Free Eyebrow Definer for those special nights out.
But if you’re thinking using beauty products (natural of course) is the only solution to lengthening your eyelashes or getting thicker eyebrows, guess again!
There is a natural solution that you can do in under 5 minutes a day to get those lush worthy lashes and face-enhancing eyebrows and girl, you can do it on the cheap.
Ok so, how does it work?
Castor oil contains omega 9 fatty acids that nourish the body hairs and follicles making them regrow and become thicker.
Castor oil is a vegetable oil derived from the castor bean with a pale yellow hue or sometimes colorless with a very mild odour and has been used for hair growth for ages.
The composition of the oil is what makes it such an amazing remedy. With a variety of proteins, minerals, vitamin E, anti-fungal and antibacterial properties, you can bet it’s even great to use on your scalp for hair growth and to help prevent dandruff.
Step-by-step instructions on how to use castor oil for eyelashes:
- Begin with a thorough cleansing of your face and area around your eye.
- Using a clean mascara brush, apply the oil to the lashes, coating the lashes from the base to their tip.
- Leave it on overnight and in the morning, wash your face.
- This process should be repeated consistently/nightly until desired results are achieved.
Step-by-step instructions on how to use castor oil for eyebrows:
- Ensure that your entire face is clean. If you are applying any oils to your skin as a moisturizer, be sure to avoid your eye area.
- Using a Q-tip apply the oil to your eyebrows. Make sure to add the oil to the skin underneath as well. This will ensure maximum growth.
- Preferably, leave it on overnight and wash it off in the morning. As with your eyelashes, you will need to repeat this process every night until you have attained your expected results.

As with anything, this process does require patience and a nightly commitment, but it’s worth the extra effort, especially if you’ve been losing your eyelashes or eyebrows and find they are getting thinner over the years.
