I’d love to know what your dental routine looks like!
Do you floss first thing upon waking?
Do you brush after every meal?
Do you scrape your tongue, then floss, then brush, then use mouthwash?
Well I’m sure you know I love teeth, hence the creation of my Salty Kisses Toothpaste. This toothpaste has been a game changer for so many people and it’s been amazing seeing more whiter, brighter smiles everywhere.
Your teeth can tell you a lot about your health. From cardiovascular health to inflammation, your teeth and gums have a direct impact on certain organ systems.
The reverse is also true, certain issues or symptoms you are experiencing systemically, can also be a sign that something is up with your teeth.
We often don’t relate the health of our teeth to the health of our overall body, but the reality is, we build up hundreds of bacteria on our teeth and gums on a daily basis simply by what we eat and drink.
By not caring for this regularly, infection can occur, causing your immune system to go to work and attack the infection to keep it under control, before it becomes a serious issue.
So what about tooth decay?
This is not something to take lightly. Tooth decay is a serious issue; in fact it is a true disease.
A hole, or a cavity is what starts to develop when your tooth starts to rot or decay. Acid, in short, is what creates a hole in your tooth. It is not the hole itself that is the disease, but rather the infection caused by bacteria that wears away your enamel and tooth structure.
Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans for short) is the bacteria in particular that is the primary culprit for tooth decay. When you have bacteria that comes in contact with sugar or starch, the bacteria breaks down these sugars and starches and in doing so, creates an acid byproduct.
From cavities, to gum disease to getting rid of stains, I’m often asked what my dental routine looks like.
And so, today I’m sharing all about my dental routine! The products I use, my favourite toothbrush (that gets off 50% more plaque than a regular toothbrush!) and how to get a whiter, brighter smile without having to spend lots of money at the dentist!
