Coffee, coffee, how I love thee! I could drink you all day long, sitting in a tree! (well…sort of!)
The thought of hanging out in a tree and drinking coffee all day does sound pretty appealing, but the truth is, I actually don’t drink coffee everyday, and considering I’ve just recently started a cleanse, I’m very limited on how much coffee I can drink (boo!). This is a huge problem, because recently, I just discovered how to make an incredible frothy and delicious cup of coffee using…..wait for it…..wait for it…..BUTTER!!!
Yup…I said BUTTA!
Don’t turn your nose up just yet! You’ve got to try it first!! And please…do share your comments and feedback with me. I would looove to know just how much you enjoyed your new and improved coffee (’cause I know you will, I just know it!).
You see…I don’t typically like my coffee black. I like adding my homemade almond milk and little raw honey to my coffee. Just a little, to give it a tad bit of sweetness. Sometimes I can go over board on the honey. A few extra teaspoons have landed their way into my cup…many a times! 😉
But when you have butter in your coffee, there is no need for any honey and milk! The butter lends a super creamy texture to your coffee and it creates a wickedly awesome foam!
Now….let’s get brewing!
Making your bulletproof coffee!
What you’ll need:
- Freshly brewed coffee (I use a french press and made enough coffee for two. I also use fair-trade and organic coffee which I highly recommend!)
- 1 1/2 tbsp organic grass fed butter (can’t find organic grass fed? Use an organic butter- this is a MUST! Got that?? A MUST!)
- 2 tsp MCT oil (optional)
Why grass fed butter?? This butter comes from grass fed pasture raised cows. All day long cows eat grass, how delicious! (ok..not really), but the point is that they eat what nature intended them to eat! They are not fed any grains, and because of this, they have a better ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6, much higher levels of vitamin A and E, and contain superior levels of CLA – a beneficial fatty acid that helps to aid in weight loss!
Yes folks..you heard it here! I said fatty acid and weight loss in the SAME SENTENCE!
Moving on….
Directions:
Pour your freshly brewed coffee in a blender. Add butter and MCT oil, and blend. You should end up with lots of foam and a decadent coffee! Pour into two mugs and top with organic cinnamon (a personal preference).
Now go make a bullet proof coffee and let me know what you think!
Health & Abundance,
Samantha 🙂
