Ginger Turmeric Lemonade

What do you do when someone gives you lemons??

You make this Ginger Turmeric Lemonade of course! 

Why is this Lemonade SOOOOOO good for you?

Here’s why…

Ginger – is a natural anti inflammatory and helps to fire up your digestive juices making it easier for you to actually digest your food and nutrients. Boiling a few chunks of fresh ginger root on the stove and drinking it will help to stimulate HCl- hydrochloric acid, in ‘laymen’s’ terms this means, your stomach acid. We want to stimulate stomach acid because again, it improves our digestion. Ginger also helps to clear up sinus congestion, helps with nausea, PMS cramps and bloating and gas. Clearly, there are many reasons to eat ginger!

Turmeric – the greatest most potent antioxidant ever!! Turmeric helps to support the liver by protecting it against toxic damage. This incredible spice is also loaded with antioxidants, anti microbial benefits and even contains anti cancerous compounds! How great is that? It can also help to purify the blood, eliminate toxins and in doing so will help to give our skin a radiant glow!

Lemon – a deliciously alkaline forming food, lemons also help to support liver health and eliminate toxins. One of the best ways to start your day is with some warm water and lemon. This helps to get those digestive juices flowing, plus it supports the liver in detoxifying. Lemons can also help to stimulate bowel movements, purify the blood and protect your immune system due to it’s high vitamin C content. Due to it’s alkaline forming properties, lemons can also help fight inflammation.

You can imagine what happens when you put these 3 ingredients together?! You promote longevity, prevent disease and support cellular health. Not to mention, you beautify your skin. 

Supporting your liver and cleansing your body of toxins will add more radiance and glow to your skin. Plus, this is a healthy way to stay hydrated – another factor that supports the integrity skin. 

Now’s lets get to making some Lemonade!

Ginger Turmeric Lemonade

Ingredients:

3-4 chunks fresh organic ginger root
1/2-1 tsp organic turmeric powder (or 3-4 chunks fresh turmeric root)
Juice of 2 whole organic lemons
1 tsp raw honey (optional)
4 cups spring water

Directions:

Add 4 cups of water to a pot with ginger and turmeric. Simmer for about 20 minutes, then strain into a large pitcher.
Add in lemon juice and raw honey and stir. Fill pitcher with room temperature water. You can drink this warm, hot or cold.
I absolutely love the combination of ginger and lemon together and found I didn’t need to add any honey. But feel free to add in a touch for some natural sweetness.
