You can cook with it, you can eat it, and you can slather it all over your skin! AND…you can have luscious locks too!! That’s right! Coconut oil does it all. Aside from the amazing health benefits, and the incredible taste, coconut oil is a must have product for your hair. Below is an easy homemade ‘potion’ you can make for luxurious hair!
Coconut and Lavender Conditioner
Ingredients:
1 x 3 ½ oz (100g) jar coconut oil
10 drops lavender essential oil
8 drops rosemary essential oil
6 drops geranium essential oil
How to make your Potion-
- Melt coconut oil by standing the sealed jar in a bowl of hot water, so that the water reaches halfway up the side of the jar.
- Remove the jar, add the essential oils to the melted coconut oil, and mix thoroughly. Allow to cool and set.
- To use, warm some of the blend by rubbing it in the palm of your hand to melt, then work it methodically through your hair, concentrating on massaging the scalp. Wrap a warm towel around your head and leave on for 30 minutes.
- Remove the oil by applying shampoo (without water) to your hair. Rub shampoo into your hair then add water. Rinse hair and repeat with shampoo if necessary.
The Benefits-
Coconut oil helps to soften hair, and is great for dry ends. It is also amazing for unruly curls. Lavender, rosemary and geranium have all been touted for stimulating new hair growth! Even adding a few drops of rosemary to 1 cup of water and pouring it over your hair after shampooing, will help with dandruff and make it easier to comb through tangles. Rosemary is also great for improving the health of the scalp and strengthening the hair.
Hope you enjoy whipping up this homemade conditioner. Your kitchen and your hair will smell amazing!
